How Much Does a VPS Cost in Nigeria? (2026)

Three rising stacks of blue servers on podium steps beside a large naira symbol, over an outline map of Nigeria

One Nigerian provider quotes ₦10,000 a month for a 2 GB virtual server. Another quotes ₦73,100 for a box with four times the cores. A third wants about ₦53,000 for what is, on paper, the middle one — except that bill arrives in dollars. This page explains the gap: what a VPS costs in Nigeria in 2026, and how to compare two quotes without being misled by the way the number is written.

The short answer: an entry-level Linux VPS costs ₦10,000–₦21,950 a month, a mid-range 4–8 GB server costs ₦40,000–₦89,980, a Windows VPS starts at ₦31,950, and a managed plan with a cPanel or DirectAdmin licence included starts at ₦81,225. Every third-party figure below was read off the provider’s own live page on 24 September 2026. Hosting prices move; re-check before you buy.

Lineserve VPS hosting in Lagos starts at ₦21,950 a month. That is the published price for 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM and 40 GB SSD, before VAT.

If you already know the size you want, VPS hosting in Nigeria lists the plans and the live naira price list puts every size on one page. If you are still working out what to buy and what it should cost, the rest of this page is that decision.

What a VPS costs in Nigeria: 2026 prices by tier

Prices as published on each provider’s own page on 24 September 2026, monthly billing, at the recurring rate rather than any promotional first month. Lineserve publishes prices that exclude VAT and says so; HostAfrica, WhoGoHost, Smartweb and Hostraha do not use the word “VAT” anywhere on their VPS pages, so their basis is unstated rather than inclusive. Every cell carries the number exactly as the provider prints it, and the section on VAT explains why that matters.

One warning specific to this market. HostAfrica Nigeria and WhoGoHost publish identical plan names, specifications and prices — C1 through C9, W1 through W6, to the naira. HostAfrica’s own about page records that it “Acquired GO54 (formerly WhoGoHost, Nigeria)” in 2025. If you are collecting quotes, those two are one quote. They appear once below, under both names.

Lineserve is listed first because this is its guide. The rest follow cheapest first.

Disclosure: Hostraha is a sister brand of Lineserve under common ownership. It is included because it sells into Lagos and is one of the providers Nigerian buyers compare, and its figures come from its own public pages, dated like every other provider here.

Entry tier — around 1 vCPU / 1–2 GB RAM

Provider Plan Specs Price/mo VAT basis
Lineserve Linux VPS – 2 GB RAM 1 vCPU, 2 GB, 40 GB SSD, 1 IPv4 ₦21,950 Excludes VAT
Smartweb Linux VPS 1 1 core, 2 GB, 40 GB RAID, 2 TB ₦10,000 Not stated
HostAfrica / WhoGoHost C1 1 vCore, 1 GB ECC, 20 GB NVMe ₦11,050 Not stated
HostAfrica / WhoGoHost C2 1 vCore, 2 GB ECC, 50 GB NVMe ₦18,275 Not stated

Read the top of that table before anything else on this page. Lineserve’s entry plan is roughly twice the cheapest entry price in this market — ₦21,950 against Smartweb’s ₦10,000 and HostAfrica’s ₦11,050 — and that is a real gap, not a rounding. Part of it is specification: the ₦11,050 row is 1 GB and 20 GB, half the memory and half the disk. Against the closest like-for-like, HostAfrica’s 2 GB C2 at ₦18,275, which also carries more disk, the gap narrows to about 20%. Against Smartweb’s 2 GB at ₦10,000 it does not narrow at all. What the difference buys is set out at the end of this page; decide for yourself whether it is worth ₦12,000 a month.

Small-business tier — around 2 vCPU / 4 GB RAM

Provider Plan Specs Price/mo VAT basis
Lineserve Linux VPS – 4 GB RAM 2 vCPU, 4 GB, 80 GB SSD, 1 IPv4 ₦42,400 Excludes VAT
Smartweb Linux VPS 2 1 core, 4 GB, 80 GB RAID, 4 TB ₦20,000 Not stated
HostAfrica / WhoGoHost C3 2 vCore, 2 GB ECC, 80 GB NVMe ₦25,500 Not stated
HostAfrica / WhoGoHost C4 2 vCore, 4 GB ECC, 100 GB NVMe ₦36,550 Not stated
Hostraha (Lineserve sister brand) Linux VPS – 4 GB RAM 2 vCPU, 4 GB, 40 GB SSD, 2 TB ₦49,980 Not stated

Working tier — around 4 vCPU / 8 GB RAM

Provider Plan Specs Price/mo VAT basis
Lineserve Linux VPS – 8 GB RAM 4 vCPU, 8 GB, 160 GB SSD, 1 IPv4 ₦83,300 Excludes VAT
Smartweb Linux VPS 4 2 cores, 8 GB, 160 GB RAID, 8 TB ₦40,000 Not stated
HostAfrica / WhoGoHost C5 4 vCore, 8 GB ECC, 200 GB NVMe ₦73,100 Not stated
Hostraha (Lineserve sister brand) Linux VPS – 8 GB RAM 4 vCPU, 8 GB, 80 GB SSD, 4 TB ₦89,980 Not stated

That is a spread of more than two to one across one tier, and the cheapest row is the one to read hardest. Smartweb’s ₦40,000 plan lists “2 CORES” against everyone else’s four, says the virtualisation is “OpenVZ or KVM”, and lists backups as not included. Those are not defects — they are what ₦40,000 buys instead of ₦83,300. No page in this table states an oversubscription ratio, so a “core” is a share of a core until someone puts a number on it in writing.

Managed, with a control panel included

Provider Plan Specs Price/mo VAT basis
HostAfrica DA1 / CP1 3 vCore, 4 GB, 100 GB NVMe, DirectAdmin or cPanel ₦81,225 Not stated
HostAfrica DA2 / CP2 4 vCore, 8 GB, 200 GB NVMe ₦113,100 Not stated
HostAfrica DA3 / CP3 6 vCore, 12 GB, 300 GB NVMe ₦149,650 Not stated

DirectAdmin and cPanel tiers are priced identically. Lineserve’s VPS plans are unmanaged root access with no panel option, so if a panel is the thing you are buying, this table is the market. Note the jump: DA1 is ₦81,225 for 3 cores and 4 GB against ₦36,550 for a similar unmanaged C4, and the licence alone accounts for about half the difference.

What a Windows VPS costs

Windows is a large share of Nigerian VPS demand, and it is priced differently from Linux everywhere, because someone has to pay Microsoft. The premium is not a percentage — it is a licence fee that scales with cores. Lineserve’s Windows plans are its Linux plans plus a Windows Server 2022 Standard licence, billed per vCPU on a minimum of four cores: a flat ₦10,000 a month up to 4 vCPU, then ₦2,500 per vCPU above it. HostAfrica and WhoGoHost publish Windows and Linux plans with identical specifications, so their premium can be read off directly too.

Provider Plan Specs Windows/mo Same specs, Linux Premium
Lineserve Windows VPS – 2 GB RAM 1 vCPU, 2 GB, 40 GB NVMe ₦31,950 ₦21,950 ₦10,000
Lineserve Windows VPS – 4 GB RAM 2 vCPU, 4 GB, 80 GB NVMe ₦52,400 ₦42,400 ₦10,000
HostAfrica / WhoGoHost W1 2 vCore, 4 GB, 100 GB SSD ₦54,400 ₦36,550 (C4) ₦17,850
Lineserve Windows VPS – 8 GB RAM 4 vCPU, 8 GB, 160 GB NVMe ₦93,300 ₦83,300 ₦10,000
HostAfrica / WhoGoHost W2 4 vCore, 8 GB, 200 GB SSD ₦108,800 ₦73,100 (C5) ₦35,700
Lineserve Windows VPS – 16 GB RAM 8 vCPU, 16 GB, 320 GB NVMe ₦185,100 ₦165,100 ₦20,000
HostAfrica / WhoGoHost W3 6 vCore, 12 GB, 300 GB SSD ₦163,200 ₦109,650 (C6) ₦53,550

All prices exclude VAT. Two things fall out of that table. The four-core minimum means a 1 vCPU Windows box and a 4 vCPU one carry exactly the same ₦10,000 licence charge, so the 8 GB plan is where the licence stops being a surcharge and starts being value. And which provider is cheaper depends entirely on the size — at 2 vCPU / 4 GB the two are within ₦2,000 of each other, while at 4 vCPU / 8 GB the gap is ₦15,500. Price the size you actually want, not the entry row.

Confirm two things in writing before buying any Windows VPS. First, that the licence is included and activated rather than something you supply — Lineserve’s Windows VPS page states the “licence inside the Naira price — no separate purchase in dollars”, and HostAfrica lists “Windows Server 2016-2022” as an included OS choice. Second, which edition and year, because that is the whole price difference.

What a forex VPS costs

A forex VPS is an ordinary Windows VPS with a specific job: keep MT4, MT5 or cTrader running when your laptop is asleep or your power is out. The hardware requirement is small — one or two charts with a light expert advisor fits in 2 GB — so the price question is mostly about currency and location.

Provider Plan Specs Price/mo Location
Lineserve Windows VPS – 2 GB RAM 1 vCPU, 2 GB, 40 GB NVMe ₦31,950 Lagos
Lineserve Windows VPS – 4 GB RAM 2 vCPU, 4 GB, 80 GB NVMe ₦52,400 Lagos
Cloudzy 4 GB DDR5 2 vCPU, 4 GB, 120 GB NVMe $28.95 list, $14.48 promo London, New York, Frankfurt, Sydney, Singapore
ForexVPS.net Core 2x CPU, 4 GB $40 monthly, $25.60 billed yearly Not stated on the pricing grid

Convert the like-for-like pair and the market gets clear. ForexVPS.net’s Core plan is 2 CPU and 4 GB at $40 a month; at the indicative interbank rate of ₦1,326.87 to the dollar on 24 September 2026 that is about ₦53,075, before your card’s foreign-transaction fee. Lineserve’s 2 vCPU / 4 GB Windows VPS is ₦52,400. Same server, same money — except one of those numbers will be different next month and the other will not.

Cloudzy’s 4 GB plan at $28.95 list is about ₦38,400, genuinely cheaper, but its regions are London, New York, Frankfurt, Sydney and Singapore. Whether that matters depends on where your broker executes, not where you are. If it executes in London, buy a London VPS deliberately. If you want the machine to stay up when your power does not, a Lagos box is the one; Lineserve’s forex VPS plans are the same Windows servers priced above.

No provider on this page publishes an oversubscription ratio, and for a forex VPS that is the spec that matters most. A server that is fast on average and stalls for 400 ms at the London open is worse than a slower one that never stalls. Ask.

The currency the price is set in

A recurring hosting bill denominated in dollars is a small permanent short position against the naira. It is not a one-off conversion — it re-prices every month whether your traffic changed or not, and you do not pay the interbank rate. You pay your card issuer’s rate plus a foreign-transaction fee. On a $40-a-month forex VPS, a ten per cent rate move is ₦5,300 a month you did not budget for and cannot invoice to anyone.

Which naira prices are actually set in naira

You can usually tell by arithmetic — divide the published naira figure by the published dollar figure for the same plan:

Lineserve Linux VPS – 2 GB $21.95 → NGN 21,950 (x1,000)
Lineserve Linux VPS – 8 GB $83.30 → NGN 83,300 (x1,000)
Hostraha Linux VPS – 4 GB $24.99 → NGN 49,980 (x2,000)
Hostraha Linux VPS – 8 GB $44.99 → NGN 89,980 (x2,000)

Both are round multiples, so both are set at a fixed internal rate rather than converted at today’s. That is the useful property: the invoice does not move when the naira does. It also means the multiple is a bet that can land either side of the market. At ₦1,326.87 to the dollar on 24 September 2026, Lineserve’s ₦21,950 is about ₦7,000 below what converting its own $21.95 would give, and Hostraha’s ₦49,980 is about ₦16,800 above what converting its $24.99 would give. Neither is a discount or a penalty — they are two different fixed rates, and today’s market rate sits between them.

The contrast to hold onto is not Lineserve versus Hostraha. It is a fixed naira list of any kind versus a price recomputed from a dollar figure every month. HostAfrica and WhoGoHost also publish flat naira figures. Cloudzy and ForexVPS.net cannot: their prices are dollars, and what you pay in naira is whatever your bank decides on the day.

The cost of paying a dollar bill

Two costs sit on top of the sticker price when the invoice is foreign: the spread between the rate you are charged and the rate you read in the news, and the foreign-transaction fee, typically 2–4% on a Nigerian card, charged monthly on the whole amount. Together they routinely exceed the difference between the two providers you were agonising over. There is also a failure mode with no naira equivalent — a card that declines or a limit that binds, on a server that then suspends. Lineserve bills in naira by bank transfer or card, including Verve.

VAT: 7.5%, and it follows you offshore

Nigeria’s standard VAT rate is 7.5%, per PwC’s Nigeria tax summary, read on 24 September 2026. On Lineserve’s ₦21,950 entry plan that is ₦1,646.25, making ₦23,596.25 at checkout.

The practical problem is that most Nigerian hosting pages do not say which side of VAT their number sits on. On 24 September 2026 the word “VAT” did not appear anywhere on the VPS pages of HostAfrica, WhoGoHost, Smartweb or Hostraha. Lineserve states that its prices exclude it. Silence is not the same as inclusive — it means you have to ask, and 7.5% is bigger than several of the gaps in the tables above.

Buying offshore does not avoid it: non-resident digital companies appointed by the Nigeria Revenue Service must charge, collect and remit Nigerian VAT on services supplied to Nigerian customers. What it changes is your ability to reclaim it, since input VAT recovery needs a valid Nigerian tax invoice — a practical argument for buying from a locally registered entity if you are VAT-registered.

What actually drives the price

A VPS bill is mostly four line items. Lineserve prices them explicitly, which makes the arithmetic checkable: vCPU ₦4,330 per month, RAM ₦3,060 per GB, SSD ₦250 per GB, IPv4 ₦1,500 each, with an IPv6 /64 free, all before VAT. Run that on the entry plan and it reconciles exactly:

1 vCPU x NGN 4,330 = NGN 4,330
2 GB x NGN 3,060 = NGN 6,120
40 GB x NGN 250 = NGN 10,000
1 IPv4 x NGN 1,500 = NGN 1,500
                         ──────────
NGN 21,950 / month, ex VAT

Two things fall out of those rates. RAM is the expensive part — a GB of RAM costs twelve times a GB of disk — which is why plans are named after their memory and why doubling RAM roughly doubles the bill. And storage is cheap enough to over-buy on purpose: 40 GB of extra SSD is ₦10,000 a month, less than one outage at 3am when the logs fill the disk. The fifth line item is the one that catches people out.

A control panel licence can cost more than the server

This is the biggest single budgeting error in the Nigerian market, and it is worse here because the licence is priced in dollars while the server is priced in naira.

Panel Cost Notes
cPanel Solo $29.99/mo (1 account) $27.46 billed annually; Cloud/VPS only
cPanel Admin $35.99/mo (up to 5 accounts) $32.96 billed annually
cPanel Premier $69.99/mo (up to 100), +$0.49/account Cloud/VPS only
CyberPanel, HestiaCP, Webmin Free No licence to buy
No panel Free Nginx + Certbot + systemd

Read the first row against the price tables. A cPanel Solo licence at $29.99 a month is about ₦39,800 at the 24 September rate — more than Smartweb’s entire 6 GB server at ₦30,000, and roughly twice HostAfrica’s 2 GB C2 at ₦18,275. On a small server the panel is the majority of the bill, and it is the part that re-prices with the naira.

That is why managed cPanel plans start at ₦81,225 rather than ₦25,500: you are buying a licence and a sysadmin, not a bigger box. That can be excellent value — just know that is what you are buying. If you are not reselling hosting or handing a GUI to non-technical clients, a free panel saves you more per year than any provider-to-provider difference on this page.

What size do you actually need

Over-provisioning is the most common waste in this market. Start one size below your guess and scale when you have data rather than a feeling.

Workload Start with Roughly, per month
Brochure site or blog 1 vCPU, 2 GB, 40 GB ₦10,000–₦21,950
WordPress, moderate traffic 2 vCPU, 4 GB, 80 GB ₦20,000–₦49,980
WooCommerce, real catalogue 2–4 vCPU, 4–8 GB, 100 GB ₦36,550–₦89,980
Node or Laravel app with workers 4 vCPU, 8 GB, 160 GB ₦40,000–₦89,980
MT4/MT5 or a Windows desktop app 1–2 vCPU, 2–4 GB, Windows ₦31,950–₦54,400
Windows app server, several users 4 vCPU, 8 GB, Windows ₦93,300–₦108,800
Want someone else to run it Managed plan with a panel From ₦81,225

Two rules worth the money. Buy RAM before cores — almost every web workload, and every MySQL one, is memory-bound long before it is CPU-bound. And split the database onto its own server before you scale a single box past 8 vCPU. If no preset fits, sum-of-parts pricing lets you build the footprint instead of fitting one: a 2 vCPU / 4 GB / 60 GB server with one IPv4 comes to ₦37,400 a month before VAT, below the ₦42,400 preset, because you are not paying for 20 GB of disk you did not want.

Providers we could not price

Four names that come up in Nigerian hosting searches carry no number above, for four different reasons, all recorded on 24 September 2026.

  • Truehost Nigeria. truehost.com.ng returned HTTP 403 behind a Cloudflare “Just a moment…” interstitial on every attempt, so we could not read its prices and carry none. It is worth a quote — check it in a browser.
  • Qservers. qservers.ng publishes no VPS product page; the navigation covers domains and related services only. qservers.net/vps-hosting redirects to the homepage.
  • DomainKing. Sells shared, WordPress and reseller hosting, and lists no VPS product. domainking.ng/vps-hosting/ redirects to the homepage.
  • Garanntor. garanntor.com/vps-hosting/ redirects off-site to an unrelated international host.

The rule this guide follows is that a price appears here only if it was read off the provider’s own live page on the stated date. A figure from a competitor’s meta description, a search summary, a listicle, or last month’s version of this article is not verification.

Lineserve VPS prices in NGN

The full published list. All prices are monthly and exclude VAT; 7.5% is calculated and shown at checkout. Lineserve runs a Lagos region (ng-1a), publishes a 99.9% uptime SLA, and bills in naira by bank transfer or card.

Plan Specs Linux Windows
2 GB RAM 1 vCPU, 2 GB, 40 GB ₦21,950 ₦31,950
4 GB RAM 2 vCPU, 4 GB, 80 GB ₦42,400 ₦52,400
8 GB RAM 4 vCPU, 8 GB, 160 GB ₦83,300 ₦93,300
16 GB RAM 8 vCPU, 16 GB, 320 GB ₦165,100 ₦185,100
32 GB RAM 16 vCPU, 32 GB, 640 GB ₦328,700 ₦368,700
64 GB RAM 32 vCPU, 64 GB, 1,280 GB ₦655,900 ₦735,900

The Windows column includes the Windows Server 2022 Standard licence. Linux images are free. Annual billing is two months free — pay for ten months and get twelve, on eligible plans.

Lineserve is not the cheapest line in any of the grids above, and at the entry tier it is about twice the cheapest. The tables say so plainly: ₦21,950 against Smartweb’s ₦10,000 to start, Smartweb’s ₦40,000 undercutting the 8 GB Linux plan by more than half, and HostAfrica’s C5 giving you more disk for ₦73,100. The difference buys a server in Lagos, a price set in naira rather than recomputed from a dollar figure, a published SLA, a Windows licence inside the naira price, and a footprint you can define. Decide which of those you are paying for, then compare.

FAQ

How much does a VPS cost in Nigeria? On providers’ own pages on 24 September 2026, recurring monthly prices ran from ₦10,000 for 1 core and 2 GB to ₦535,500 for a 16-core Windows server. A small-business footprint of 2 vCPU and 4 GB sits between ₦20,000 and ₦49,980 unmanaged. Managed plans with a cPanel or DirectAdmin licence included start at ₦81,225.

How much is a VPS per month? For an entry-level unmanaged Linux server, roughly ₦10,000–₦22,000 a month. A typical small-business server is ₦20,000–₦50,000. A Windows VPS starts around ₦32,000 because of the licence. Anything under about ₦10,000 a month is a heavily shared allocation, and anything over about ₦80,000 usually includes a control panel licence and someone else’s labour.

How much is a Windows VPS in Nigeria? Lineserve’s starts at ₦31,950 a month for 1 vCPU, 2 GB and 40 GB, with the Windows Server 2022 Standard licence included. HostAfrica and WhoGoHost start at ₦54,400 for 2 vCore and 4 GB. The Windows premium over an identical Linux box is ₦10,000 a month at Lineserve up to 4 vCPU, and ₦17,850–₦35,700 at HostAfrica depending on size.

How much does a forex VPS cost? A 2 GB Windows VPS that runs one or two MT4/MT5 charts is ₦31,950 a month in Lagos. Offshore, ForexVPS.net’s 4 GB Core plan is $40 a month — about ₦53,075 at the 24 September rate, before card fees — and Cloudzy’s 4 GB plan lists at $28.95. The offshore ones bill in dollars and host in London, New York, Frankfurt, Sydney or Singapore, so the right choice depends on where your broker executes.

Is VAT included in Nigerian VPS prices? Usually not, and usually not stated. On 24 September 2026 the word “VAT” did not appear on the VPS pages of HostAfrica, WhoGoHost, Smartweb or Hostraha. Lineserve states that its prices exclude it and that 7.5% is added at checkout. Convert every quote to the same basis before comparing.

What does Lineserve’s VPS cost? Lineserve VPS hosting in Lagos starts at ₦21,950 a month for 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM and 40 GB SSD. The 2 vCPU / 4 GB plan is ₦42,400 and the 4 vCPU / 8 GB plan is ₦83,300. Windows adds ₦10,000 a month up to 4 vCPU. All exclude VAT, which is added at checkout at 7.5%, and annual billing is pay for ten months and get twelve on eligible plans.

Is a cheap VPS worth it? Sometimes. A ₦10,000 server running a staging environment or an internal tool is excellent value. The same server under a production checkout flow, sharing cores with an unknown number of neighbours and with backups listed as “No Backup”, is a false economy. Match the price to what breaks if the server is slow.

Third-party prices and specifications above were read from each provider’s own page on 24 September 2026, at the recurring monthly rate rather than any promotional first-term price. The USD/NGN rate used for conversions is ₦1,326.87, an indicative interbank rate dated 24 September 2026. Hosting prices, tax rules and exchange rates change, so verify current figures before you buy. Lineserve prices exclude VAT, which is added at checkout at 7.5%.
